Head of School's Message
We love celebrating children’s birthdays here at Heath Lane Nursery, and we know how special this occasion is for them. However, we want to ensure that all our children can safely take part in these celebrations.

Due to an increasing number of children with severe allergies, including life-threatening anaphylaxis, we kindly ask that parents/carers no longer bring in sweets, cakes, or other food items for birthday celebrations. Additionally, as part of our commitment to promoting healthy eating habits, we believe this change will benefit all children.

Instead, we would love to introduce a new birthday tradition! If you wish, you can donate a book to the nursery in honour of your child’s birthday. We will have a birthday basket of books for children to choose from on their special day, which they can enjoy with their friends and adults. This will create a lasting and meaningful way to celebrate birthdays, while fostering a love of reading.

Thank you for your support in keeping our nursery a safe and healthy place for all children. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with a member of our team.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Our next Talk for Writing Book is "10 Things I can do to help my world" by Melanie Walsh as we will be focusing on sustainability.
Next week marks the immersion phase of the EYFS Talk For Writing programme, where children will explore the story through various engaging activities. They will learn the importance of looking after our planet and what we can do to help be more sustainable. This phase is crucial for developing understanding and language skills.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Reuse", "Reduce", "Recycle", "Pollution", "Valuable" and "World". Please see below link to story;

Language of the week
We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Spanish, which is spoken by one of our pupils Callie, and their family. Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Spanish. Please practise with your child at home.

Learning At Home
This week at nursery, the children spent plenty of time exploring our Potion lab and experimenting with different textures.
At home try creating your very own mini lab by gathering various caps and containers.
Encourage your child to explore pouring and mixing household ingredients, such as bubble bath or washing up liquid, flour, chia seeds with water, and discuss what happens when the textures combine.

Have fun!
Success Story of the Week
This week the children have been busy baking scones which offers a rich, hands-on learning experience. Through using their maths skills by counting and measuring ingredients and learning about quantities and volumes.

The children developed their social and emotional skills by discussing who is special to them and why.

They have enjoyed creating something special for their MADGE day (Mothers, Aunties, Daughters, Grandmothers and Every other important woman). We hope you enjoy your special treat.
