Head of School's Message
I’d like to take a moment to explain why we kindly ask children not to bring their own water bottles to the nursery.
Our primary goal is to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all children in our care. By providing water in nursery-supplied cups, we can:
-
Maintain Hygiene Standards: Shared or personal water bottles can sometimes carry germs, which may increase the risk of cross-contamination. Using our cups ensures thorough cleaning and sanitisation after every use.
-
Encourage Independence: Drinking from cups is an excellent opportunity for children to develop their coordination and self-help skills, which are key aspects of early learning.
-
Prevent Misplacement or Mix-ups: In a busy nursery environment, water bottles can easily get mixed up, lost, or left behind, causing unnecessary worry or inconvenience.
Rest assured, fresh, clean drinking water is always readily available, and we encourage children to stay hydrated throughout the day.
A small number of children have specific plans due to medical or sensory needs. Where there is a prior agreement, we will continue to make these reasonable adjustments.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for your children.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Our Book of the Week is "The Runaway Chapatti" by Susan and Adam Price. Next week the story will move into the imitation phase of the EYFS Talk For Writing programme, where children will focus on the story structure identifying the beginning, middle and end. This will involve activities such as retelling the story with actions, creating story maps and performing the text aloud. This phase is to provide a solid foundation through understanding and practising the language patterns and structure of the text.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Chapatti", "Frying", "Thin", "Bank", "Tea" and "Creep". Please see below link to story;

Our Rhyme of the Week for next week is "Polly put the kettle on." This rhyme supports rhythm and coordination along with being linked to phonics and patterns. In these sessions the children are also learning the Makaton signs to the lyrics. Please find below link for the signs to support the Rhyme of the Week:

Language of the week
We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Romanian, which a few of our pupils Petru, Nikita, Sarah and Ruah speak. Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Romanian. Please practise with your child at home.

Learning At Home
For the next two weeks in Busy Fingers the children will be practising flicking, twisting and turning.
You can support their learning by practising opening and closing bottles/jars at home.
You could try making balls out of paper and seeing how far they can flick them using their fingers.
Success Story of the Week!
We are excited to share that our school has a signed copy of The Great Big Cuddle by the renowned poet Michael Rosen! Michael is most famous for writing 'We're going on a bear hunt' but has also written a number of other fabulous books. Our Executive Headteachers, Hayley and Gemma, had the privilege of meeting him at a conference on Friday. Michael was delighted to hear about how much our children love his books, and we can’t wait to share this special signed book with the children!
